Go Over There and Push the Doorbell

It was a mission of sorts. Drive down South to your son’s good friends house and set up a tow for his big black SUV. It was an easy drive down south to the shopping area for a lot of people that have transportation to get there. A few dare devil bicyclists are seenin the traffic mix and now those are replaced by E bikes that can haul more stuff.

An outgrowth of housing developments sprouted up in this area, some of which leveled the field of shopping locally. Think of an oasis and tents around it. Makes sense to be able to walk to veggies and juice. A whole roasted chicken and a few cans of ‘scritchy scratchy‘ cat food.

I went down to this area to arrange a flat bed transport for the big black despairing machine. Bearings in the valve train operation where needed. I called the towing company dispatcher and arranged things. Easy and straightforward job.

I finally found the vehicle in a nice created neighborhood. Cu l-de-sac layout. Private but too near the shopping center for my taste. I pulled up in a driveway of several of the new houses close to the vehicle of intent and waited for the flatbed tow truck. I brought my history book and a sandwich to easily wait and kick back for an enjoyable read. Jonathon Edwards from the 18th century, a pivotal person in the Great Awakening at the time of the American revolution of 1776.

It is an engaging, necessary read for everyone that loves America and the creator of all things who arranged it all. Toss in George Whitfield and Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson with the Constitution and you have a page burner of a book!

Hours of engaging reading and as I sat in the drivers seat of the dead vehicle, a knock of the window revealed the owner of the house I had parked my car at. I was blocking his garage and he was very angry at that. I jumped out and told him I would move it while explaining why it was there. He finally called me an idiot and I agreed, “yes I am an idiot” and moved my car away from a now opened garage door with an idling pickup inside. Oh well, that house was not empty and I parked next to the black SUV and turned on the heat.

I got back to my book and simmered my emotions. I walked over to the house where my son’s friend lives and vented and talked about how violent I could have been at the confrontation. “I would have broken his finger if he dared poke me! I went back to my car, book and some breakfast I had on the passenger seat.

It was getting dark and the Lord impressed strongly on me to go up and ring that angry man’s doorbell and apologize for my assumptions. I did not want to do that. What’s the point Lord? It was a relentless, a kind insistence that never stops! I grabbed my journal with pen, got out and walked to where I thought the front door was. The doorbell was mostly obvious and I heard it go off.

He answered the door and I began to do so. He looked at me and apologized for his anger and we began to bond, we saw each other freshly and there was healing in seconds as we shook hands and gave our names. His was was Dennis, the name of my very good friend I had been with earlier at a Bible study nearby. Perfect.

It was very good; Jack
